Overcoming a Short Enrollment Period in a Seasonal-Flu Study
Challenge: For flu studies, it is critical to meet enrollment goals during one season. Flu studies with high-enrollment requirements may have just days or weeks to meet their goals. Failure to meet enrollment goals may cause a significant delay until the next flu season.

Outcome: During the initial study planning phase, PharmaNet’s Infectious Disease team implemented proactive strategies to decrease the study start-up time to less than one month. These strategies included site identification, site recruitment, and site training. The team was extremely successful in enrolling 1200 subjects who were vaccinated for flu during a 4.5-week enrollment period.
